The Movable Book

Workshop with artist Keri Miki-Lani Schroeder

September 23rd 9:00 am – 12:00 pm WCP 4.120

In this workshop students will make innovative paper structures that move in unexpected ways to hide and reveal information. We will make a “magic wallet” and a volvelle “wheel chart” that rotate to present interchangeable information. Unlike simply turning a page, expanding upon the traditional form of the book requires taking a closer look at how content is organized and conveyed to the reader. Students will practice bookbinding techniques and how to meaningfully and cohesively integrate text, imagery, and structure.
